Summary: The C-SRNWP Programme had been continued on the basis of the eight Expert Teams and on the regular correspondence of the Advisory Committee members. The annual EWGLAM/SRNWP meeting was held in Greece (Athens) at 28 September - 1 October.

1. Headlines

The programme had been continued on the basis of the elements built in the previous periods especially as regards the eight Expert Teams and the Advisory Committee. The most important event of the SRNWP community was the annual EWGLAM/SRNWP meeting, which was held in Greece at the very end of September. The meeting was intensively prepared with the help of the Expert Teams and successfully realised afterwards. Serbia entered the programme as a new member. The contribution fees except two members had been arrived to the Hungarian Meteorological Service.

2. Status of programme targets

The main activity of the C-SRNWP programme is the coordination between the five LAM Consortia in Europe (ALADIN, COSMO, HIRLAM, LACE and Met Office). The coordination is ensured by the eight Expert Teams (data assimilation and use of observations; diagnostics, validation and verification; dynamics and lateral boundary coupling; link with applications; physical parameterization: upper air; predictability and EPS; surface and soil processes: model and data assimilation; system aspects) established last year and the regular contacts between the members of the SRNWP Advisory Committee. Beside that two SRNWP-related programmes (responsible member: MetOffice) are ongoing (their reports are prepared independently): SRNWP-I (Interoperability) and SRNWP-V (Verification).

2.1. Expert Team issues

The Expert Teams continued their activities based on their respective workplans (which are available at the srnwp.met.hu webpage of the SRNWP programme). The Expert Teams proposed the "review talks" and their respective scientific sessions for the EWGLAM/SRNWP meeting and the members were actively taking part in the annual meeting.

2.2 SRNWP Advisory Committee issues

The SRNWP Advisory Committee had its fourth meeting after the EWGLAM/SRNWP event on 1^st of October. At this time the Expert Team chairpersons were also invited and the EUMETNET Executive Director could also attend the meeting. The discussions were more focused on the Expert Team issues with special emphasis on the possible efficiency improvements of the Expert Team activities.

2.3 Links with the partners

The contribution fees were collected except for Italy and Serbia. For the latter countries reminders were announced in the annual meeting.

3. Communication and cooperation

The Programme Manager attended several meetings on behalf of the programme, which are as follows:

COSMO General Meeting in Offenbach (7-10 September).
The annual EWGLAM/SRNWP meeting held in Greece at 28 September - 1 October.

8. Outlook for rest of the year

For the end of the year the most important activities will concentrate on the implementation of the proposals, decisions formulated in the annual meeting. Beside others the following main activities are planned to be realised: update the list of national contacts for C-SRNWP, official contacts to Poland in order to convince them for entering the programme, initiative to exchange observational data for the validation of surface schemes, update the list of workshops for the forthcoming year, participation in the EUMETCAL training course.
